After a long, emotional, stressful journey I thought I would share my greek life story.
Some of you may know that in early September I signed up to do formal recruitment here at Boise State. Which is a crazy process with a dress code, lots of judging and 700 girls in my class were hoping for the same thing as me...to get a bid for their desired sorority. I had a blast meeting all the girls and getting a feel for all the different sororities, so my hopes were super high. The second day we woke up bright and early to get a list of the 5 sororities that we would meet with again. But to my surprise, there was only 2 on my list. This crushed me. I felt rejected and very small, but I carried out the day and had a blast. The third day rolled around and I got my slip back again to see just one sorority instead of two. This one sorority was my only offer but it just didn't feel right to me. I went though the day, but sadly this wasn't what I had hoped for, so I dropped the process and ran back to my room absolutely crushed. I trusted in the universe that it just wasn't the right time and I came to except that. What really made me sad was all three of my roommates got into top houses and the rest of that day they celebrated with their sisters while I laid in bed.
Everything happens for a reason and I believe that with all my heart. Now it was my mission to find that reason...
Jump to Monday morning October 8th.
I woke up to a text from Katelyn DeLaMontanya, my good friend here in Zeta Tau Alpha (one of my favorite sororities I went to). She said, "Hey, did you still want to join a sorority?" I replied as fast as I could, "yes!" She sent me the information about an event happening that Wednesday, where there would be an informal recruitment. As soon as she texted me, I knew this was the chance I'd been waiting for. So I went to the event, had a blast, and waited anxiously to hear back from them.
Jump to yesterday October 12th.
For 2 days I kept my phone's ringer had been on full blast, as I waited to get a call. 10:30am I was sitting on my bed doing my nails when I heard my phone ring across the room. My body went kinda numb but I jumped up and answered it after two rings. A girl named Cat introduced herself and said that if I was interested, they would like to give me a bid. I was in! I was on the verge of crying but I talked with her for about 5 minutes and by the end of our conversation, I was invited to my first sorority event.
I am officially a Zeta Tau Alpha and I couldn't be happier!
